Settling In

Well, after a couple weeks of learning how to be parents, we are starting to find our groove.  With Carole and Terry here this week we are four-strong, which is a great help as we juggle caring for Little Man and catching up with getting the house prepared, shopping, sharing pictures, creating registries, putting cribs together, writing blogs, etc.

The good news is... most of that work is now done, and we can start settling in to the new "normal".

The bad news is... Carole and Terry head back to Crystal Lake on Sunday, and we will be settling in to the new "normal" without their help. Zachary doesn't sleep through the night yet, and we have a pretty good 4-man rotation going to "monitor" him 24 hours/day.  We will be sad to see them go, and we will miss their help tremendously, but Tara and I are ready for the challenge.

Little Man is doing great, and other than his usual middle-of-the-night fussiness, it has been an absolute joy getting to know him. He is generally well-behaved, and his big dark-blue eyes are curious and eager to soak in his surroundings. He is a good communicator - if he is crying, 99% of the time it is because he is hungry or needs a diaper change. That's fair. He is an amazing addition to our lives, and we can't get enough of him.

Here is a picture of Zac with his very proud father, after his first bathtub bath.
